Should we continue blogging ?

Blogger has its own up side and down side of use, it is a very good website for students to use but it also has a disadvantage of it using. It is one of the easiest way to make alibi or excuses that you didn't do your homework. One example is having fake technical difficulties by students who are just too lazy to do their homework and post it on Blogger unless they have proof that they really are having a legitimate technical difficulties. Another example is that most students get side tracked by Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc. Through my experience, using Blogger is more efficient and easier way to do homework rather than writing with Pen or Pencil on a piece of a paper.

So my answer is yes, because it is easier for me to do my homework and in my point of view, many students will benefit using Blogger for their studies. So in general, we, as class, should continue using Blogger because this way, it will be easier for us English 9 students to improve quickly though some students might disagree with me because as I said, they will get side tracked because of Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Big Question #1 (revised)

It is unusual for a protagonist to run away rather than facing the problem. The author probably made this choice because he was maybe trying to send out a message. The author also possibly made this choice because he was also trying to show that if you try to hide from your troubles and then if you get caught you will go in much more trouble than you would have been into before. He also might have made this choice to tell his readers that never run away from a problem, just face your problems and let a friend or relative know what your problem is so they might be able to help you solve your problem, however never try to hide it.

The message that the author may be trying to send out is a good one. He is basically telling that it is always better to face your problems and do not try to get away with it because it is unlikely that you will get away with it without actually getting caught. For example if you try to get away by not doing your homework it is kind of impossible to not get caught (my friend has tried before, he got caught). That might be the message that the author is trying to send.

Almost everyone says that it is better to face your troubles rather than hiding them and same with me because I’m sure that you will get in more trouble than you probably would have been into if you faced your problem right away. For example there was a chase quite a few years ago. The police turned on the siren and the man had pulled over when the police man was approaching the car the person that pulled over started driving and trying to run away, then the police had to chase him and when the police caught the man he had huge fines and he went to jail. If the man just pulled over and actually talked to the police man he would have gotten less charges and he would not have to go to jail. For all those reasons everyone should face their
problems rather than hiding them because you can get in some serious trouble if
you get caught.

Question 1 ! ( revised ? )

In this story , cue for treason , Peter is faced with the desicion of running away from his problem or staying and being faced with consequences . Peter's parent's should have ran away with Peter during this situation , he is young and may not be able to live on his own . Running away from you're problems is never a good idea ! And everyone should know that . The author of Cue for Treason , may have made the desicion to make Peter run away alone just to add more excitment or to add more thrill to the story . Knowing that Peter is alone may make some people who are reading the story to think that Peter will get into alot of trouble with the law , or Peter may get lost and there create's a new problem .

If Peter's parent's came with him to run away they could of helped Peter alot . But , if they joined Peter , maybe he would not of had the opritunity to join the actor's he met along the way . Or met as many people as he did when he was traveling alone .
The message the author might be is trying to send is something about growing up . The quote "Live your life to the fullest." by Ernest Hemingway, seems to fit well with
this story . Peter has to leave his parents sometime and why not do it now ? Well no kid at the age like 15 would leave there parents because they will not be able to afford it . But Peter had to run away to keep his family safe . He met a whole lot of people and is acting with actors , he did pretty good for him self !

It is always better to face you're troubles . No matter what the problem is or how big it may be , you always have to face them right away before they get worse . An example would be " You can run but you can't hide ." Said by Joe Louis a famous weight lifter , in 1946 . The saying basically means you can run all you want but you will never be able to hide from you're problems . It still means that today , as it probably ment simular during the Elizabeth Era. Also , it is still saidby alot of people to this day .

big Question 5

Some students have problems relating to the people in Shakes Spears time. There is a bunch of people who can relate to him very well, and the ones who can are probobly smart and, usualy do pretty well in there classes. The people who can relate to the people in the Shakes Spear time, or (any writers back then) i would think have a pretty good imaganation, and can picture things pretty good.

I think if i were to be anyone out of the characters it would be Peter, personaly i dont think i would be like anyone but i guess i would be like Peter. Peter isn't really a hero, he is an accidental one. I am not a hero at all. Things me and Peter have that are the same;
Peter likes to adventure, like's music, is kind of brave, a pretty nice guy, responcible, and good at hiding.

I do not think i am like Kit, im not a girl, i can't sing, i don't like the theature.
I don't think im like Sir Phillip either, im not royalty, i don't have any power ,people are not a fraid of me and dont throw rocks at me, and i can't send people to jail, or be hung.
I can't really relate that well to these people but i guess Peter would the the best one that i could relate to.

Amin's post #3 - sent to Ms Lees via email

Good problem solving Amin!

Its unusual for a protagonist to run away rather than facing the problem. I think author made this choice because he was maybe trying to send out a message. I think the author also made this choice because he was also trying to prove that when you get caught you get in much more trouble then you would have gone in before. I also believe that the author made this choice to tell his readers that never run away from a problem just face your problems and let an adult know what your problem is so they might be able to help you solve it but never try to hide it.

I think the message the author is trying to send out is a good one. He is basicly telling that its always better to face your problems and don't try to get away with it because its very unlikely that you will get away with it without actually getting caught, for example if you try to get away by not doing your homework its almost impossible to not get caught unless if the teacher forgets which will most probably not going to happen (My friend has tried before, he got caught). That is what I think thats the message that the author is trying to send.

I believe it is better to face your troubles rather than hiding from trouble i'm sure that you will get in more trouble than you probably would have been into, for example there was a chase quite a few years ago, the police turned the lights on the man had pulled over when the police man was approaching the car the man started driving and the police had to chase him and when the police caught the man he had huge fines and he went to jail, if the man had just pulled over and actually talked to the police man he would have gotten less charges and he wouldn't have had to go to jail. I think everyone should face their problems rather than hiding them because you can get in some serious trouble if you get caught.
  Big Question

I think that any man can change his goal its normal for people not to know what there gonna be because some people can't decied what there gonna do till there done high school. although some people start very early, like my dad he started his career at his job when he was only 16/17 working as a guy who unloaded the trucks. Then started building off that now he is a very big business man in his company. Other people like me, have no idea what their gonna be.

Question #3 Hero (Revised)

Peter is the kind of hero who will risk his life just to save others'. Peter has no intention of becoming a hero, his only intention was to save Queen Elizabeth's life from Sir Philip's plot to kill her. Peter is the type of hero who accidentally became a hero. In my point of view, it doesn't matter what your age is or if you're a low or high class person in order to become a hero. At his age of fifteen, I would say that Peter Brownrigg is one remarkable hero in the Queen Elizabeth Era.

One example from the text is when Peter was in one of Sir Philip's tower and heard information about Sir Philip's plot to kill the Queen. And ever since he heard about the plot, he began to realize that he needed to tell people who he only trust about the plot. He knew that he has to save the Queen no matter what happen, even if his life is on the on the line. Peter traveled to a far away place (i forgot what the place is called) just to tell other people like Mr.Desmond etc.. about the plot.

A man named Dr. Jose Rizal is a person who is a hero to me. In fact, most Filipinos consider him a hero because he's a National Hero. He is one of many man who tried to bring Freedom to Philippines and he succeeded. He was killed by his fellow low class Filipino Soldiers because if the low class soldiers don't kill Rizal, then all of the low class soldiers will be killed by the hands of Spaniards. He is also the one who brought back Filipinos into their senses again and to reality as well. He died for ever Filipinos who was and still alive. Both Jose Rizal and Peter Brownrigg saved other people's lives even though they knew there will be consequences and that their lives will be endangered.

The question ! I think I did it wrong ..

I think everyone can change who they are . You can't decide who you are going to be when you're born , it all depends on the choices you make in life . Anything is possible if you put your mind too it . At the moment you sometimes hear people say "you cant change who you are ." Or "you cant change anyone ." Just stuff like that , but it is true you cant change someone , they have to be determined to make the right choices in life and make a new goal to be a better person . Some people just dont care , and others do . I for one care about what people think of me , well actually not to much . If someone doesnt like me Im not going to change just for them , because not everyone is going to like you , you just have to be your self . And , you can change who you are . You just have to put you're mind to it and really just be you're self . Thats all it is . If you try to be fake then no one will want to be your friend . If you're honest and dont care what people think or say then they're going to like you for beig that person who doesnt care what people think of them , you could even be a role model for them . So basically you cant change a person , you can help them , but you cant force them to be someone they arent . You just have to like them for them and except little flaws because no one is going to be perfect ! :)

Chapter 7 & , cue for treason

Chapter 7 ; Peter was now basically considered an actor , so he would preform with the rest of the crew . I guess Peter is doing pretty good for himself since he ran away . The crew and Peter all went to Oxford to preform for a big audience , I would be really excited ! I love preforming also ! Peter sarted to feel some what homesick , I knew he would start to miss his family sooner or later ! They were all on the Abingdon bridge untill Twilight . I remember one time my family and I were in California and we were walking around at mid night and then we all just hung out on this little bridge by our hotel ! Ahha it was so fun ! Aha :) . Honestly since Peter is making such good friends with all the famous actors it would be somewhat intresting just to be in his position maybe , but Peter would have to be a girl and he wouldnt have to get his ear cut off , then it woukd be fun !

Cue for Treason

chapter 3 : As Peter was running away from Sir Philip Peter went to the next town and he runs into some one from the village, who gives him two pieces of advice. The first is that he should not try to go the scotland because Sir Philip is on the look out for anyone that is crossing the border, and the second is to not trust anyone magistrates or law officers. Many of them are Sir Philip Mortons men. peter sees Sir Philip in the theaters Peter runs and hides in a chest.

chapter 4/5 :  As Peter hides in the chest his hears pumping and thumping he can hear Sir Philips men opening closing doors and asking questions. The actors carryed the chest onto the stage, it was one of the props Peter hoped to just stay in the chest for a while. They carryed him on the the cart he fell a sleep for a while then woke up still in the chest he couldnt take it anymore so he open it up to look around and the actors where there they didnt seem like they were gonna tell on him. They had a fire they were nice to Peter but Peter thought some one was watching him. He awakes the next morning but before he can say anything a man says "if you say anything ill stick this knife in you."

Cue for treason chapter 5&6

Chapter 5 ; Peter never made it to Kendal road that night , but was willing to try again of course . At first I thought Kendal was a girl he was trying to help untill I realized it was a road .. He took a wrong turn , and then it took him 1 hour to return back to where he was before because it was so dark . Maybe Peter should have brought a candle or even a flash light if they were invented back then . He should of packed supplies ! I would of done that , it could help alot . It's never fun when your walking in the dark and all of the sudden your flash light burns out ! That has happened to me alot of times . Him , William , Dick and Jane were all together safe , they all tryed to open the lid on a jar but they were to weak to even move it . William was scared that he might be hung . Who wouldn't be ! I would hate to live in the olden days where you're punishment would be to get your ear chopped off or get hung ! Those laws are so violent . They had dinner together then went off to bed . Peter woke up the birds chirpping and singing ! It was all peacefull until some one said "if you make a sound I will stick this knife in you !" if that would ever happen to me I'ed run away so fast ! Peter should have done that .

Chapter 6 ; For some reason no one really beleived that Peter was part of the group , they did not think he was an actor . He was getting really deffensive when everyone who was not an actor was saying how easy it is to act and just making it seem like acting isnt a real job , acting is pretty difficult actually , you really have to try and be set out for it . Acting is something you really want to do or you dont want to do , theres no middle . I love acting ! I think it's so fun . Ahaha . Ms . Desmond had gotten Kit and Peter to write something .

Posting

Hope you had a good pro d day - mine was great! Saw some great speakers and one of the best things I was reminded is how Learning is supposed to be messy! If it were too easy, would you really be learning?

Good to see everyone finally posting - don't forget to comment now.
Reminder to make sure posts address the question & make connections (not just summary). Edit & expand to your posts by Saturday so everyone has time to comment before Monday.

Don't forget to look at 3 of the other class blogs if you are having some trouble figuring out posting and commenting.

Going to try to post the rubric tomorrow so you can do some self-assessing.
chapter 1 : In chapter one we learned who the main characters are Peter and Sir Philip Morton. Sir Philip Morton thinks he has the power and authority to do what ever he wants.
Peter throughs a stone over the wall and hits Ir Philip and knocks off his cap, and quickly runs away from the sene

Chapter 2 : When Peter is at school he hears Sir Philip Morton's men looking for him. When Peter gets back to his farm his parrents are there waiting for him to arive Sir Philip Morton has allready visited the farm because he saw Peter run away from the other side of the wall after he was hitl.

Cue for treason

I just realized its treason not treasure !
chapter 3 ; Peter is still running away just to protect his family , in my opinion i would not run away because that would invole alot of running and hidding , you would have to know how to start a fire if you're by your self and cook food etc . That part conected with me because when i was younger i wanted to run away during a game of hide and seek just so i could be the best at it , but I never did because it was to dark . He went to a mountain hopeing no one would fine him , and no one did . The area Peter went too had alot of big rocks , there for you could easily hide there and not get caught .

chapter 4 ; Of course Peter is still continuing off on his journy , all alone . That would not be fun to be all alone in a place you may not know . Who knows what animals there could be ! I personaly hate camping , because there are all these wild animals and if you're in the middle of no where and you get hurt then who are you going to call ? There probably is not any service in a deserted area and like i said you may be all alone . Peter maybe should of planned what he was going to need to bring and get all packed .

The Big Q

I believe that a persons life is determined before they are born because you can't possibly choose where u are going to be born. You also can't choose what you will do in the next ten years or something. You can choose want you want to be later or in life but you can't say that I will be a soccer player for example because you might not be a soccer player because there are hundreds of people trying and those people can be better than you. I also beleive that whatever you do next is already determined that you will do that. Nobody can say that this will happen tommorrow because you don't know what will happen in the future. For example how Johnjohn said that there was a man named James who was destigned to be a drug dealer and then he started to stop selling drugs, I believe that that was already determined that he will change and stop selling srugs. As people say "past is history, the future is a mystery." So nobody knows what will happen next in life.

cue for treasure ?

I think im doing this wrong .. anyways my response for chapter 1 :
In chapter 1 we learn the main charecters , like Peter and the Nobel etc . When Peter threw the rock at the Nobel i thought that was not smart at all .You shouldn't throw rocks at anyone especially if they are basically a king.. But since he did , Peter got in alot of trouble , they wanted to cut off his ear ! So he ran away .

Chapter 2 : Peter ran away , well he trys to run away from the Nobel and people who want to cut off his ear for throwing a rock . He actually escapes from them which was surprising because that means he must be a really fast runner . I did not at all think he would be able to escape just because the Nobel has horses and other soliders to hunt him down and would be able to catch him very fast , but Iwould not want to lose my ear so I would run away from all of the people chaising me aswell .

The Big Q Answer Revised Plus +

The Big Q
I believe that today, you can change your destiny. I don't believe that life path will be determined on the day you were born. Because I personally believe that a person can still change their life path. For example, A good mother and father gave birth to a boy. They both raised their son very well, and both parents already knew that their son will have a very good life. But when the boy was growing up, he got influenced by his bad friends making him into a rebel. Both parents where sad to see what happened to their son. They were expecting that their son will have a good life, but their son chose the evil path. That's why I believe that what ever you do in your life, it will depend on the path to choose. You can still change the path you have chosen if you put your heart and that you're sincere to change.

I personally believe that a person can change his or her stars. For example, A guy named James is destined to be a Drug Dealer, but as he grow older and become more mature and understand what life truly means, he might realize that selling Drugs is wrong and promise to himself that he will never be a Drug Dealer. You see, when people grow old and mature, they will know what's the good thing or bad thing to do. I truly believe that a person can change his or her destiny as long as they are mature and do the things that they think is right. And I also agree about the clip that you do not need money in order to change your star, all you need is to have faith in yourself that you can change your star no matter what.

The Connection between The Big Q and Chapter 1-2

At the first chapter, Peter, the protagonist, I believe wanted to change his star because he wanted to have a better life. Sir Philip, the antagonist, made a wall on to the Brownriggs' and Bells' Land. The owners wanted to fight back but they needed a lot of money in order for someone to help them to take down the wall. So Peter decided to gather many villagers so that they can help one another to take down the wall. Sir Philip noticed that the villagers where on attack, so he gathered his men to attack the attacking villagers. The villagers decided to retreat since they don't have any protection or something to defend themselves except for Peter who did not retreat. He threw a rock on the wall and a couple of Sir Philip's men saw him and tried to shoot him. Good thing he wasn't shot at any part of his body, but his cap got shot and he got scared so he decided to retreat as well. Sir Philip's men are now after Peter, Peter decided to go somewhere safe where no one knows him. He wanted to get back the land his family owns but he failed. The clip and chapter 1-2 have some similarities, and that is Peter didn't have enough money but he still had faith in himself that he will overcome Sir Philip's power, but then again he failed.
